He was an 18-year-old Institute of Technical Education student when he meet the secondary two girl through friends in church. They started going steady and began to have sex after she turned 15 in May 2008.
They would rendezvous in his flat in Jurong East when family members were not around.
Then in June 2009, he got her to agree to pose nude and he took photographs of her on his mobile phone.
Later, when she decided to end the relationship, he threatened to post the photographs on the Internet if she did not remain his girlfriend.
The terrified victim stayed on with him till Nov 30, 2009, when she confided in her brother, who alerted their parents. A police report was made.
On Tuesday, the man, now 22 years old, was placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service. He also has to remain home between 10pm and 6am. His parents signed a $5,000 bond as a guarantee for his good behaviour.
The court ordered that the victim's identity not be revealed.
