A TEENAGER who molested five young girls over a period of 3 1/2 months was sent for reformative training on Wednesday.
Tan Yan Xu, 16, who was diagnosed to be suffering from depression and had obsessive thoughts, preyed on victims in Tampines between Sept 22 last year and Jan 5 this year.
A Community Court heard that he would either lurk in the stairwell next to the lift lobby or follow the victim home.
Once the victim entered the lift, Tan would rush in and molested her.
Last Oct 29, he got into the lift after a nine-year-old girl and pushed her to the ground, and touched her private part over her pinafore.
In another case on Dec 7, he cupped the mouth of a 10-year-old girl and groped her.
When the lift reached the sixth floor, he continued to hold onto the victim and jabbed a button to close it. He continued touching her until the 11th floor when he pushed her to the ground and fled, leaving the girl crying.
The maximum period for reformative training is three years.
