Woman admits obscene acts with girl

IN THE first case of its kind, a young woman was convicted of two counts of committing an obscene act with a girl whom she had had a homosexual relationship.

The 22-year-old student, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, came to know the 11-year-old girl in November 2007 through the latter's schoolmate.

They started calling each other and became good friends. The pair decided to enter into a homosexual relationship in January 2008. The accused and the victim would hug and kiss each other on the bus when no one was around, the court heard.

In November 2008, they went to a staircase landing of a carpark in Serangoon and the accused committed the obscene act. The second offence was committed while they were at a hotel in Sentosa on Feb 1, 2009.

District Judge Low Wee Ping called for a probation report on April 18.

The maximum penalty is a $5,000 fine and two years' jail.
