17-mth old toddler sexually abused

A 36-year-old man has been charged with abusing and sexually attacking a 17-month-old girl in Taiwan.

The girl was bleeding profusely when she was sent to the hospital in July.

Doctors were forced to remove 13cm of her small intestine to save her life.

They noticed the girl's hymen was torn and she had other injuries on her body.

A doctor informed the Taichung Bureau of Social Affairs and the police.

The toddler was temporally placed under the care of the suspect - whom her mother knew through church activities - after she was sentenced to jail for cheating in April.

After investigations, police arrested the man and charged him in court.

The suspect was said to have beaten the girl, locked her up in the toilet, slammed her against the wall and even inserted some unidentified objects into her vagina.

Although Xiao An has recovered from her physical wounds, she is afraid of men and can be seen shivering whenever a man walks near her.
