SINGAPORE - After he had dragged his victim into the bushes and raped her, Dai Yun Fa offered to be friends with her.
Dai, 32, even gave the victim - a fellow China national - a piece of tissue to clean herself with and helped her look for her mobile phone and shoes.
Yesterday, Dai, who is married with one child in China, pleaded guilty to three charges, including rape.
The court heard that on Sept 8 last year, the victim, 25, was walking home around 11pm after alighting from a bus, when she was pulled into the bushes by Dai. The victim begged Dai to let her go but her repeated pleas fell on deaf ears.
After raping her, Dai offered to look for her missing handphone and shoes. They could only recover the shoes and Dai promised the victim to return the next day to search for her phone.
He also asked if the victim wanted to be his friend and offered to give her his handphone number.
The victim saw a doctor and made a police report the next morning. She also returned to the rape scene with two police officers - to find Dai searching the bushes, presumably looking for the victim's mobile phone.
A struggle ensued when the officers tried to arrest Dai. Dai managed to escape but was traced to his dormitory where he was arrested on Sept 10, two days after the rape occurred. Dai will be back in court on Wednesday.
